This Weekend I..

..dyed my hair dark, dark brown. I was in need of a change!

..started watching the TV show Lost. Rob and I rented the first season on DVD and got through the first 3 episodes on Saturday afternoon. I really love it so far, except for the whole terrified-of-plane-crashes-I’m-never-going-on-one-again thing.

..made a rockin’ dinner of paninis and soup. I have no pictures, because I didn’t want to make you food jealous take any. a little bored at one point and made a bunch of covers for my iPhone. I now have one for every mood, outfit and occasion, apparently!

..made delicious buffalo chicken dip for the annual Super Bowl party we attend. I know I’ve mentioned how good this dip is before, but it was a big hit last night. You can (and should) find the recipe HERE.

..watched (and LOVED every minute of) Beyonce’s half-time performance last night. I almost died of happiness when Destiny’s Child was reunited. You best believe that had I been in the privacy of my own home, I would have been shakin’ mah thang along with mah girls.

..cried my eyes out during the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial.

..fell in love with the “God Made A Farmer” commercial.

..and prepared for the full week that lies ahead of me :)

Before I get back to the grind, I want to send out many, many HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to my step-dad, Kerry..who is celebrating his birthday while vaca’ing in Montana today. I hope you have the BEST day, Kerry. Celebrate deserve it! ♥

Question: What was your favorite Super Bowl commercial?

Fake It ‘Til You Make It

That was my motto at Zumba last night.

I missed my usual Tuesday class this week, so decided to hit up the Thursday session instead. It was ridiculously cold last night (-5° to be exact), but I bundled up anyways and forced myself out of the house.

In the end, I’m happy I did. Last night’s class was tough, but in a different way than last week. I feel like I got tired quicker, but was able to push through easier (if that makes any sense). Plus, the class went much faster this week .. probably because I wasn’t staring down the clock (and praying for the end) the whole time. I am such a pansy.

I’m still trying to learn all of the moves, which is where my “Fake It ‘Til You Make It” motto came in. This week’s class had much less instruction. I spent the first 10 minutes or so fretting about whether I was doing everything right or not. After that, I decided I was being ridiculous and opted to just cut loose. Instead of perfecting each move (let’s be serious, that’ll never happen), I gave it my all and did my own thing. I felt better, and I’m sure I looked cooler..!

Zumba how we feel how we look

My favorite part this week was when we danced to a version of Shakira’s ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ .. There were a lot of chances to “add your own flare,” as the instructor says. I took that as my cue to really let loose and dance like a superstar crazy. My hips were not lying, friends.. ;)

Question: Have you gone to any exercise classes this week?

21 Suggestions for Success

If you live in or around the Twin Cities, you’ve probably heard of and/or listened to the “Dave Ryan In The Morning Show” on KDWB. If you haven’t heard it, you should definitely find it on iHeartRadio (it’s hilarious).

I was listening to the show on my way in to work this morning, and was intrigued by one of their more serious segments. They were discussing a list of 21 different suggestions for success. It ranged from things you should how you should treat yourself and others. It was a really motivating way to start the day! Plus, I’ve mentioned before that I’m a self-help book/inspirational quote junkie, so I was naturally all over it.

When I got to work, I found a link for the list online. (You can also find it here.) I decided to use one of my favorite tools (ie. PicMonkey) and pretty up the list so I could set it as my computer wallpaper. There’s nothing like a little in-your-face inspiration (which for me, is sometimes needed daily)!

While I value some of the items on the list more than others, I think they are all things we should consider or be mindful of. Here’s my version of the list..see what you think!

I can’t seem to pick my favorite one..but if I had to choose, I think I’d say #4. I believe that so much of your happiness (and the happiness of those around you) comes from your I’m always striving to be the happiest, most “glass-half-full” person I can. It’s {obviously} not always easy, but as #11 can always be trying to improve yourself.

Question: What do you think of this list? Which is your favorite?
